The Magic of Hemp – Nature’s Miracle!

Hemp could very well be the nature’s answer to the Global Crisis we face today. We daily read the depressing News that our world is about to end due to Global Warming. We watch horrified as America’s countryside burns in the dry & arid heat, wondering what our future will bring…

Many of us have appreciated the Magic of Hemp seeing it as an ancient wisdom passed onto Mankind, but we may not know how great Nature’s Miracle could be!

Global warming is the increasing build-up of Carbon Dioxide CO2 in our atmosphere. Simplified, CO2 is released when we drive cars run on gas/petrol/diesel and burn fossil fuels. Hemp absorbs more than twice the CO2 than trees. Between 8 to 15 tonnes of CO2 per hectare of cultivation compared to 2 to 6 tonnes. Growing at an extremely fast rate, taking only 3-4 months to reach maturity compared to 10-40 years for a tree. So in 3-4 months, our Hemp could be absorbing the same amount of CO2 as ancient forests!

This is not the only Miracle, naturally anti-microbial, Hemp has a natural resistance to pests. Converting from cotton to hemp to make textiles, would save 50% of all pesticides used in the U.S. At the same time as absorbing CO2!

Just growing hemp could clean thousands of contaminated sites in the U.S. at the same time as absorbing all the CO2.It has the miraculous ability to absorb heavy metals and toxins from the soil, even soil contaminated by nuclear radiation. Hemp was planted on land contaminated by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster and was found to successfully reduce soil toxicity. Hemp also absorbs cadmium, a heavy metal toxin.

We have to ask why hemp paper is not as readily available as it should be. It can produce four times more paper per acre than trees. Not only would it be cheaper to make our paper from hemp, but it would also save our trees. And the more we grow hemp the more CO2 it absorbs. The less we chop down the trees the more CO2 they absorb.

It can be made into a gasoline/petroleum-like fuel called ethanol. Yes, you can even drive a car fuelled with it and cars can easily be converted to run on it. It produces less CO2 and growing it would easily offset this, because the hemp absorbs the CO2. I have even heard you can make plastic, and building materials out of it, even a car…

So if we plow the fields and scatter the good hemp seed on the land, we have a good chance of saving the world!

And think of all the pretty things we can make with all that Hemp! Why? because it is also possible to make jewelry with it!!! I love that I am also being ‘Kind’ to the world and respecting the magic of Nature. To me this is endlessly reassuring. As I daily read that the world is about to end due to global warming.
