Holly & Ivy – Original Art Print by Joanne Shaw, is an original artwork composition, created using both photography and digital art techniques from a still life photograph of a Holly branch with two berries surrounded by Holly & Ivy leaves.

Location: In the studio in Winter (January) (2023) Colchester, ENGLAND

The evergreen holly symbolized the enduring nature of life during the dark days of winter, while the deciduous oak symbolized the fullness of life during the light-filled days of summer. When the oak dropped its leaves in fall, the evergreen leaves of holly became symbols of hope for continued life. English Ivy was considered Queen to the Holly King. On the Winter, Solstice girls dressed in ivy and boys in holly to symbolize how nature came together to create new life. ( With Thanks to Tree Wisdom)
